Kimberly Hudson is Principal Flute with the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra and Instructor of Flute at Wayland Baptist University. She holds a Master of Music degree in Performance from Texas Tech University and a Bachelor of Music degree in Performance from the University of Houston. Her primary teachers include Byron Hester, Sydney Carlson, Lisa Garner Santa, and John Thorne. Mrs. Hudson has also performed in masterclasses with Sir James Galway, Carol Wincenc, Leone Buyse, Alexa Still, Susan Milan, Thomas Robertello, and Mike Mower. Previously, she has held positions at Eastern New Mexico University and with the Abilene Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2004, she was the winner of the annual Byron Hester Flute Competition and in 2003, the Texas Tech Concerto Competition. Mrs. Hudson has been recently featured as a soloist with the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra in performances of J.S. Bach’s 2nd and 4th Brandenburg Concertos. She has also participated as a performer in the Hot Springs Music Festival, the Texas Music Festival, and the National Flute Association Convention.
