Griff Miller II is a Texas native, born in Austin while his parents were in The Longhorn Band under Vincent R. DiNino. The family spent its early years in Amarillo, but has resided in Houston since 1970. Griff is the son of well-known public school orchestra teachers Griff and Kay Miller, and is a section double bassist with the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra.
Griff began playing the double bass at age 11, where he performed with his junior high school orchestra, directed by his mother. Griff continued to play in the orchestra in high school as well, where his father was the director.
While in college, Griff performed in The University of Texas Symphony Orchestra, UT Chamber Orchestra, and the Austin Symphony Orchestra. He holds a B.S. in Mathematics from UT.
Since college, Griff has pursued a career in computer science. He lives in northwest Houston with his wife and two children, who are both also musicians, and three cats.
