Carmina Burana (1937) is an epic cantata that combines secular medieval poetry with the choral and instrumental music of German composer Carl Orff (1895-1982). The work follows the highs and lows of the legendary "Wheel of Fortune," as it spins to determine the fate of man. Lubbock Chorale and the West Texas Children's Chorus join the LSO to recreate the recognizable classic "O Fortuna" and the other extraordinary movements of this timeless piece.

Although dismissed by Tchaikovsky’s peers as “worthless,” the composer refused to alter a single note of his first piano concerto. His unyielding confidence in the piece resulted in what is now one of the most beloved piano concertos in history.
